This book interrogates the idea of ‘development’ that has dominated contemporary socio-economic discourse in post-liberalization India, critiquing the diverse ‘models of development and progress’, providing an insight into its ideological connotations and its implications upon the lives of the marginalized and oppressed sections of society, particularly in Eastern India and its surroundings.
