SAROJ DUTTA: pledge of a revolutionary poet
When poems are soaked in the blood of martyrs, they epitomise the immortal aspirations of the teeming multitudes. This compilation of poems by Saroj Dutta, the legendary Communist revolutionary leader whose life and words embodied unflinching revolutionary fervour, resounds with the timeless truth that the pen is mightier than the sword. The collection captures his uncompromising spirit, blending incisive political critique with profound poetic expression. Each verse echoes with his unyielding commitment to justice and the people’s struggle.
The volume is introduced by the eminent poet and social commentator, Vara Vara Rao.
Saroj Dutta (1914-’71), popularly known as Comrade SD, was the first West Bengal State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist). He was also the editor of the famous literary magazine Parichaya during 1948-’49.
