Product Overview
Policies born out of political necessity can never solve the problems of life; otherwise, political treaties would not be annulled over the slightest reasons, nor would humanity and civilisation be repeatedly ravaged by the horrors of war across the world. What is needed is a broader moral vision, a higher sense of humaneness and generosity—one that can move people beyond the narrow confines of social and religious dogma into a wider social sphere and a more elevated spiritual consciousness, creating a sense of unity and oneness. - Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay

About the Author
This writer has been an unceasing researcher of Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay’s life and literature for three decades, and while pursuing a PhD on Tarashankar at Visva-Bharati University in 1993, he realized the need for an authoritative biography to truly understand Tarashankar’s life and works. From then on, he began an intensive investigation to know him in depth, aiming to trace—through factual inquiry into events—how Tarashankar, born in a rural village of Birbhum, rose to a broad life of literary creation and national as well as international cultural engagement. For this purpose, he relied on close reading of texts along with fieldwork and relevant interviews, and as a Tarashankar researcher, he was selected as a Senior Fellow by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
