Product Overview

Bengali literature has never lacked great writers, many of whom are rediscovered and revalued across generations, yet only a few have written so far ahead of their time—sometimes by decades, even half a century—and among such visionary writers, the foremost is undoubtedly Shibram Chakraborty; Shibram’s uniqueness lies in the fact that even in the analogue age he gave an almost surreal form to what would later become digital sensibilities, creating a fantastical comic universe that bypassed idealism altogether and moved beyond the immediate domain of science, which is why both his perspective and his terminology remain strikingly singular and disruptive. In every sense, he was an emperor in his own sovereign realm, and Bengali readers have taken far too long to salute this emperor thrice; much of his work still remains undiscovered, and this book attempts to see, touch, and critically analyse several submerged layers of that Shibramian iceberg.
