Product Overview
Risking her life, journalist Rana Ayyub undertook an undercover investigation for eight long months. The result is Gujarat Files. The subjects of her investigation were the Gujarat riots, the killing of innocent people in fake encounters, and the mystery behind the murder of Gujarat’s Home Minister, Haren Pandya. Walking constantly along the edge of death, the author unearthed numerous shocking facts. Between 2001 and 2010, she secretly interviewed, under a false identity, the bureaucrats and police officers who held the highest positions in Gujarat. Her investigation revealed how the Gujarat state administration and its officials were involved in crimes against humanity. We come to know how these very events helped smooth the political journey of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah from Gujarat to the throne of Delhi. The cruel and terrifying truth, which had been concealed by the sudden “memory loss” of officials before inquiry commissions, is exposed in their own statements. There is no room for doubt about the relevance of this book. In the context of today’s state-sponsored intolerance, it has become even more significant.
