Product Overview

A country is not built of soil alone; it is built of people. To make their beloved country happy and prosperous, people have repeatedly broken their chains. Even knowing defeat was certain, they fought with courage. One such strand of these many struggles is Naxalbari. A young man from a lower-middle-class family in Panihati becomes a traveller on that death-defying path. From cultural organisations to building barricades at factory gates, he learns the roads of struggle. Though time passes before finding companions on a difficult path, he eventually discovers the organisation around which dreams can be woven. Serving as the State Secretary of the CPI (ML) Janajuddha group connects him to revolutionary movements across India and enriches him as a chronicler of that journey. In the deep forests of Dandakaranya, he encounters a new society and new people. The company of some of India’s finest sons teaches the author to think anew. This chapter of life does not hesitate to raise questions within him: Are these questions right? Will the struggle succeed in finding a way out of this painful time? The future alone will answer them. This journey may not even earn a footnote in human history, yet this narrative can still question the future—when “your homeland is plundered day after day, night after night,” did you take the whip of resistance in your hand?
